If you’re in a relationship, this upcoming Saturday is an important date for you to remember! It’s Sweetest Day! Take your own sweetie to the Shiraz on the Water for a delicious prix fixe menu! The dinner begins with an appetizer to share (such as calamari, bruschetta or a short rib wonton), followed by soup or salad. Chef Carol Buckantz’s entrees include a prime rib, salmon, pork tenderloin and chicken saltimbocca. Afterwards, indulge in a creme brulee or a slice of her “Death by Chocolate” cake. Next, if you’re the kind of person that enjoys a brewski with his food, you may want to check out the Beer & Bites event at Timothy O’ Toole’s Pub on October 20th! They will host a Sam Adams beer tasting at 7pm that will offer “perfectly paired bites” with each sample of beer, for only $20. For example, the Harvest Pumpkin beer is paired with potato gnocchi with pumpkin mascarpone cream and toasted pepitas (a.k.a. pumpkin seeds). Mmm.
Zocalo Restaurant and Tequila Bar on Ontario will be offering a special “Dia de Los Muertos” (“Day of the Dead”) menu on October 28th through November 2nd. This special menu will feature items such as Ceviche con Pasilla de Oaxaca (seared scallops in a citrus pasilla dressing with malanga and plantain chips) and Mole Negro (braised beef short ribs in a mole with caramelized sweet potato puree and seasonal vegetables), as well as several other dishes. The regular dinner menu will also be available!
Low on cash? Head over to the Red Canary for their “Scary Canary” Halloween party! You could even GET some cash in your pocket by winning their costume contest and a prize of $1,000! Finally, start off November with some delicious food and sake! Quince in Evanston will host a four-course sake dinner at 6:30pm on Friday, November 4th. The dinner will be led by sake brewer Hitoshi Ohai and the menu will be prepared by Executive Chef Andy Motto and Sous Chef Josef Dugolenski. The menu features four dishes that are paired with each type of sake. For example, the appetizer of Bass with Winter Roots is paired with Chokaisan Junmai Ginjo Nigori.
